Board Certified Los Angeles Periodontist featured in new documentary series uncovering the groundbreaking connection between Chronic Disease and Oral Health.

BRENTWOOD LOS ANGELES, Calif., March 30, 2020 — Digital Platform Well.Org has released a seven-part documentary series titled “Gateway to Health: Healing Secrets of the Oral Biome” featuring dual-board certified periodontist Dr. Alina Krivitsky of the CENTER for Advanced Periodontal and Implant Therapy, alongside researchers, healthcare providers, and today’s most prominent dental experts. The series investigates the crucial connection between oral health and overall health, to deepen the understanding of the effects of oral diseases on the body’s ability to function optimally.

As a Dual-Board Certified periodontist, Diplomate of both the American Board of Periodontology and the American Board of Oral Implantology, and a Clinical Associate Professor at USC’s Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry in the Department of Advanced Periodontics, Dr. Krivitsky shares her years of experience, education and learning with viewers in all seven episodes of the docuseries.

“For years the oral cavity has been referred to as the mirror to both optimal overall health and disease. The truth behind just how prominent these connections are is shocking. Chronic diseases often start in the mouth, as the bacteria found in plaque, which causes gum disease, has been linked to diabetes, heart disease, and cancers. As a dental specialist who is trained in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, it is my obligation to share the truth behind these commonly unknown connections to help create a healthier society,” says Dr. Krivitsky.

The series explores the cutting edge-science and comprehensive research behind the deliberate interconnection of the mouth and body. Dr. Krivitsky speaks alongside medical experts, periodontists and dental specialists to discuss their research on the adverse effects oral conditions such as an inflammation of the gums, bacteria, gum disease, saliva, and dental cavities, can have on the development of Type 2 Diabetes, causing the spread of bacteria through the bloodstream and into the heart, and on women seeking to get pregnant. Discover a new lens through which you can understand how the mouth serves as the gateway to the gut and what you can do to repair, restore and rejuvenate the oral biome to achieve optimal overall health.

The series can be viewed free of charge, by registering on the Gateway to Health website.

Los Angeles Periodontists are the first to use blood-derived growth factors as an alternative to treating gum recession

BRENTWOOD LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 2, 2020 —  Board Certified Periodontists Dr. Alexandre-Amir Aalam and Dr. Alina Krivitsky of the CENTER For Advanced Periodontal and Implant Therapy in Brentwood, Los Angeles, are the founding periodontists of the Rejuvagum Lift™, a revolutionary gum recession treatment using Platelet Rich Fibrin. PRF is a healing matrix created from a sample of a patient’s own blood, which has been used for years as a form of regenerative medicine in most medical fields, most notably in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, and is now being used to treat patients with gum recession in Brentwood, California.

“Gum recession is most commonly caused by gum disease, something nearly 65 million Americans suffer from annually. Many patients avoid treatment because of the painful, invasive nature of a gum graft, which often requires using gum tissue taken from the roof of the mouth, increasing the pain and suffering experienced during the healing phase. With the Rejuvagum Lift™, we offer patients a more gentle, but still effective alternative to gum grafting, with less recovery time and enhanced healing,” says Dr. Alina Krivitsky.

The Brentwood periodontists strive to offer patients the most advanced restorative periodontal care, and utilize cutting-edge technology to do so. “We draw several samples of a patient’s blood that are spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets, white blood cells and fibrin. Platelets play a crucial role in periodontal regeneration. The proteins in the fibrin encourage quicker healing, and when applied directly to the wound, cause the wound to close more quickly and increase blood flow to the site. The extra boost of stem cells and growth factors assist in soft tissue regeneration around the exposed roots, and by utilizing the patient’s own immune system to heal, the risk of infection is almost none,” says Dr. Aalam.

Gum recession puts patients at risk of developing decay, causes sensitivity to hot and cold foods, and affects the aesthetics of the smile; longer teeth cause an aged and unhealthy overall appearance. This revolutionary treatment is the first of its kind in the United States and serves as a testament behind the power of science and technology when combined.
